My Uniqlo joggers review
Two plus years into the pandemic I have entered the athleisure movement.
It’s fall in New York so I naturally need joggers for my everyday walks, jogs, and runs. I looked around at some of these Instagram direct-to-consumer brands like Mack Weldon and Ten Thousand but I questioned whether or not they were really worth $100-120.
I stumbled into Uniqlo and found that they were selling these “Ultra Stretch Active Jogger Pants” for $40 (https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E448595-000/00?colorDisplayCode=56&sizeDisplayCode=003). They also had a nice green color that caught my eye. Can these DTC brand joggers really be worth 3x more than these Uniqlo ones? I headed to Mack Weldon to check out their joggers and they were very nice. But I couldn’t justify lightening my wallet so substantially for a pair of joggers that I’d be using to run at an unbearably slow pace.
I purchased those green Uniqlo joggers from the store using their fancy RFID self-checkout. And they are solidly Uniqlo. I’ve never found their clothing to be a perfect fit on me; I’ve owned a few Oxford button-ups from them and some part of their sizing always felt off. I went for a 5 mile run in these joggers and trotted around midtown getting my errands done. They lived true to their stretch and comfort. It ended up being a bit too warm outside for joggers but I’m not holding that against the pants.
A solid, middle-of-the-road jogger with some stretch, an okay fit, and great color. 6/10
